How the two events differ
Tulsa residents will have two November opportunities to hear Mayor Monroe Nichols discuss the City's priorities, progress, challenges, and plans for the year ahead.
The City of Tulsa says a public virtual State of the City address will stream live at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10. A separate in-person address hosted by the Tulsa Regional Chamber is scheduled for noon on Thursday, November 19, at the Arvest Convention Center.
The November 10 address is designed for public virtual access and will stream on the City's YouTube page. The City says the mayor will discuss six priorities, accomplishments to date, continuing challenges, and his vision for the next year.
The November 19 Chamber event is an in-person program for the business community. It requires registration and will be held at the Arvest Convention Center, 100 Civic Center in Tulsa. Registration details are available through the Tulsa Regional Chamber.
Why it matters
TREW analysis: A State of the City address is a useful statement of priorities, but it is not a substitute for budgets, contracts, project dashboards, ordinances, or measured outcomes. TREW will listen for updates affecting housing, homelessness, neighborhood investment, transportation, public safety, economic development, and civic participation, then compare those statements with the underlying public records.
